WHY CHOOSE THE PT PROJECT?
At typical physical therapy clinics, clients will be seen by a physical therapist for an initial evaluation. Subsequent visits may include seeing a Physical Therapist for only 10-15 minutes, with the remainder of the session (which may not last an hour) carried out by an aide or assistant. These therapy extenders will often be supervising multiple patients at once. The State of Oregon only requires a high school diploma and 40 hours of supervision to become an Aide and a 2-year Associates degree to become a PT Assistant.
At THE PT PROJECT, you will only be seen by a licensed Physical Therapist, who also has an Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) advanced certification, for every visit (no aides/assistants/trainers). Each visit will be for a full hour. Studies have shown, OCS therapists are only surpassed by Orthopedic Surgeons in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries. We believe this provides you with the highest level of individualized care. The PT Project Physical Therapists have highly specialized credentials and training to address advanced, complex or niche issues. From advanced manual therapy techniques, strength and conditioning, to exercise prescription with a deeper understanding of how the body moves, our PT’s have years of clinical, on-the-field experience from hospitals, private clinics to sports fields.
WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT ON MY FIRST VISIT?
First, we want to set up a Discovery Call / Visit to find out about you, your concerns, and determine whether we are the right fit. This also allows you to meet our therapists, ask questions, discuss possible concerns, and determine the next best step. If we can help, then we schedule an initial evaluation. During this visit, you will receive a comprehensive, thorough evaluation to have specific ailments or concerns assessed. Once we have determined the cause of your symptoms, we will develop a customized treatment plan, perform initial treatment and prescribe a home exercise program to get you headed in the right direction. After that, we will work together to determine the best follow up treatment plan based on your personal factors.
We recommend that you arrive 15 minutes prior to your first appointment to complete a quick intake form, or fill it out prior to your visit using our scheduling link above. We encourage clients to wear comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely along with exercise-appropriate footwear.
HOW MANY VISITS WILL I NEED?
The number of visits will vary based on your individual need and condition. The majority of our clients see a reduction of symptoms within the first three visits. We have several options from single sessions to packages that reduce per-session cost, for the best value.
DO I NEED A REFERRAL FROM MY PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN?
No. The State of Oregon is a direct access state, which allows you to receive treatment and services from a Physical Therapist without a referral.
WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE AN OUT-OF-NETWORK PROVIDER?
As an out-of-network provider, it means we get to provide the best care possible for our patients instead of being limited to insurance benefits. It also means we do not directly accept health insurance. At the end of each visit, clients pay us for services provided. However, we provide clients with a receipt and Superbill (an itemized form used by healthcare providers for claims) which can be used to submit to their insurance provider for reimbursement. Depending on individual out-of-network benefits, clients may receive from 50% to full reimbursement from their insurance providers, or have services go toward reducing their deductible. Clients are responsible for contacting their insurance provider to verify out-of-network benefits before appointments. We can help show you how to do this. We cannot guarantee insurance reimbursement however.
WHY DID THE PT PROJECT DECIDE TO BE AN OUT-OF-NETWORK PROVIDER?
As an out-of-network provider, The PT Project can provide clients with the highest level of quality care without the restrictions of insurance. It allows our therapists to decide how to effectively treat clients by providing a full 60 minute session. It allows our clients to work directly with a Physical Therapist (no aides or assistants) for all of their visits. We exist to serve our clients, not the insurance companies that dictate and restrict what can and cannot be done. We are absolutely convinced this care model will result in quicker recovery times, higher patient satisfaction, and the ability to re-humanize health care and Physical Therapy.
WHAT ARE MY PAYMENT OPTIONS?
We accept all major credit cards, cash, checks, as well as HSA (Health Savings Account), HRA (Health Retirement Account) and FSA (Flex Spending Account).
WHAT IF I’M NOT SATISFIED WITH MY VISIT?
While we cannot guarantee improvement or full recovery of your condition we do guarantee 100% satisfaction with the level of care you receive, or we will offer a full refund.
WHAT WILL MY COST BE?
Effective 1/1/2022, Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost for any non-emergency healthcare items or services. You may ask your healthcare provider for a GFE before scheduling any services. If you receive a bill greater than $400 over the cost of the GFE, you may dispute the bill. For questions, or more information regarding Good Faith Estimates, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises. At The Physical Therapy Project, we are extremely transparent with our fees, which will be discussed with you prior to setting up and appointments.
PERFORMANCE THERAPY FAQ’S
WHAT IS PERFORMANCE THERAPY?
Performance Therapy is a bridge between rehabilitation and sports. It goes beyond traditional physical therapy rehab with each session incorporating a unique blend of manual therapy, corrective exercise and strength training tailored to the individual. Clients work with a Physical Therapist (PT), who has advanced certifications in Orthopedics, for 60 minutes. During their initial visit the PT will perform a full evaluation and then customize a treatment plan according to their specific needs, with most clients seeing results within the first 2-3 sessions. Normatec Compression can also be incorporated to enhance pain relief and recovery after sessions. We also believe in injury prevention training and pre-surgery PT (prehab) to mitigate injury/surgery risk or speed up your post-op recovery time.
SPORTS PERFORMANCE FAQ’S
WHAT IS SPORTS PERFORMANCE TRAINING?
Sports Performance training focuses on improving functional movement and targeted strength and condition training to support the physical demands of sports. We offer programs for runners, golfers, cyclists, and overhead throwing/hitting athletes.
HOW IS THE PT PROJECT’S PERFORMANCE TRAINING DIFFERENT FROM OTHER PLACES THAT DO GENERAL TRAINING OR FITNESS?
We believe athletes get hurt less than runners, golfers, football players, (fill in the blank “player”). Our program starts with building a firm foundation built on flexibility, strength, power, speed, agility, endurance, nutrition, and sleep. This provides athletes with everything they need to succeed in their chosen sport. Once the foundation is in place, then sport specific training can be implemented to help achieve the maximum level of success. Each program is designed with an athlete first mindset and our sessions are coached by experienced, educated Physical Therapists that understand how to train athletes in a fun, safe and challenging environment.
